Children are born blank. Everything
else is nurtured.
I did not need the scientist Stephen Pinker to tell
me that.
I figured it out all by myself.
For example, I know that children
are not born racists, but racism is nurtured in
them.
An article about Britain’s
Justice Minister Bridget Prentice joining the Pinkstinks
campaign made me think a little more about nurtured
prejudices and colours.

Born in Pretoria, Antoinette Stassen
is now living in Cape Town and loving it.
She is a freelance graphic designer and part time

CUSTOMER SERVICE
FROM HELL
I moved to my current location eight
months ago, and have been using my 3G connection
to the internet since.
The 3G connection is not very good in the area,
but it was good enough to do what I had to do.
On Tuesday afternoon I started having
problems. I couldn’t connect to 3G at all.
By yesterday afternoon I was convinced that there
was a problem, so I called Vodacom.

IT AGAIN
Ok, Lolly Jackson is a ruthless
businessman and he sometimes comes across as being
extremely arrogant - even obnoxious - but I have
to hand it to the man.
When it comes to advertising, his creativity is
unrivalled.
His latest billboard in Rivonia
has elicited a legal letter from M-Net that says
he has stolen their trademark, and he has been given
until December 11 to remove the billboard or face
legal action.

SPEND YOUR BONUS
WISELY
It’s that time of the year
again.
Bonus time!
And as usual, the articles imploring us to be frugal
and to use the extra couple of coins wisely are
popping up.
They are advising us to save at least 50% of the
bonus, make our own gifts, and use the other 50%
to pay off our credit facilities and close them,
pay our child’s annual school fees upfront,
and pay all arrear service bills like electricity
and water.
