VOTE FOR THE YUMMIE BABES!

Things are heating up, with voting in the FHM 2010 Models competition soon closing.
Two girls who have previously been featured in the Yummie daily SA Girls gallery have made it to the Top 100.

Irrespective of the outcome of that competition, they each deserve their very own Yummie Friday Gallery.

Next week Yummie features Cape Town babe Antoinette Stassen, but for now it doesn’t get more South African than Charné Jade Slee.
Born in Durban, schooled in Cape Town and currently based in Johannesburg!

AFFORDABLE RENTALS IN CAPE TOWN

Most businesses today are killed by high rentals.

Twelve years ago, I saw West End and the Arena in the V&A Waterfront close because the rent had become astronomical at over R70k per month.
Just last year Manenberg was evicted because the venue could no longer afford to pay the rent – over R80k per month.

But, it seems that this is a thing of the past and we can now look forward to affordable rentals in Cape Town.

THE ORIGIN OF TABLE MOUNTAIN REVEALED

It looked like a very interesting article on African culture and beliefs, myths and legends.
A whole website dedicated to this.

For a while I was intrigued.
As you would be too.
I have been living in the shadow of Table Mountain all my life and not once did I bother asking ‘Where did the mountain come from?’

FOKKEN BANDWIDTH THIEVES DETECTED

Having taught myself everything that I know about websites, I got a rude awakening.

Yummie’s readership has been growing steadily over the past few months, so I did not raise an eyebrow when the bandwidth used also climbed.

Two months ago I doubled the original bandwidth allocation from 5000mb to 10000mb., and a month ago I had to add another 2000mb.

OL' SkOOL RuLES. OK?!

I had reached a point where I was prepared to concede that I was stuck in a time warp, and that the world that I come from is a thing of the past.

Being a strong believer in progress, I sadly accepted the fact that life as I knew it had become antique.

But that stops right here and right now.
There is no way that I will accept that eating out of a toilet bowl is chic.

CHANTEL COLLEN: YUMMiE FRIDAY GALLERY

This small town girl has big dreams!
Yummie reader Chantel was born in Uppington on 28 December, where she studied Tourism Management and worked in the hotel industry for a while. She soon got bored and moved to Cape Town, in pursuit of her first love, the camera!

It is obvious why Chantel specialises in swimwear and lingerie shoots. Her goal is to work overseas, especially in Europe and the East.

NEW DRIVE-THROUGH ATM MACHINES

All major South African banks will soon be installing new drive-through ATM machines enabling customers to withdraw cash without leaving their vehicles.
It is believed that this will decrease ATM fraud.

Special procedures have been researched and developed to ensure that customers have a hassle-free experience at the new machines.

A list of these procedures follows:

RECIPE FOR BOBOTIE

Bobotie is not one of my favourite dishes, but I have received a few requests to post a recipe. Who am I to argue with Yummie Readers?

The origin of Bobotie can be traced back to the Malay slaves from Java, but I suspect that the current Cape Malay version has evolved since then.

The original recipe calls for dried apricots, but you can use chutney as is common in South Africa today.

HOW TO GET LAID ONLINE

I find it hard to believe how gullible some people are.
Then again, if one reads about multi-millionaires losing millions in Ponzi schemes, I suppose everything is possible.

A Taiwanese man was not looking to prey on people’s gullibility to make a quick buck.
Oh no.
He was after something completely different.
Sex.

BEAUTIES INVADE JOHANNESBURG

If you were at OR Tambo International on Saturday you are forgiven for thinking that you had suddenly been transported to red-blooded-male-paradise.

113 of the 120 contestants in the 2009 Miss World pageant arrived in South Africa on Saturday and OR Tambo and transformed the airport into something akin to Hollywood.
Or the Playboy mansion on a respectable day.

LIZA BOTHA: YUMMiE FRIDAY GALLERY

Born in Durbanville near Cape Town on 13 February 1982, Liza Botha was scouted by an American modelling agency in the V&A Waterfront, when she was sixteen, and sent off to New York.

Since then she has worked in Iceland, India, Spain, London, Malaysia and Bali to name but a few.
Interior designer Liza has been featured in SI in 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

THE UNBIASED RECESSION

You may think that the global recession does not have much impact on the super rich.
It may not impact them in the same way that it does you and me, but it is all relative, and even the super wealthy find them selves having to scale-down.

And that is where most of us share a commonality.

Because we allow ourselves to be validated through possessions, and by others, scaling down is embarrassing.

CRUISING INTO CAPE TOWN

It may not be the largest cruise ship in the world, but is certainly one of the largest and most luxurious to have docked in Cape Town for a very long time.

The nine-storey MSC Sinfonia docked in the Eastern Mole of the city’s harbour yesterday, on its maiden voyage to South Africa.
It set sail again last night, on it’s way to Durban, and 600 South Africans have joined the cruise.

A WORLD FULL OF CLOSET CRIMINALS

On Thursday, Tony Musulin and his three Loomis co-workers were transporting €11,6-million (about R120-million) in cash, when his two colleagues stepped out of the van briefly to run an errand.

When they returned, Tony, the van, and the money had disappeared.
The empty security van was found three hours later in an area nearby.
Tony had vanished off the face of the earth, with 49 sacks of bills picked up from the Bank of France in Lyons....... and instantly became an online hero.

PARIS HILTON AND CASTER SEMENYA

I pride myself on being open-minded, and often cite my willingness to admit that I was wrong, if I am proven wrong.

I now find myself in a situation where two separate incidents are exactly the same, but I have differing sentiments about them.
The problem is that I find it difficult to decide which is right and which is wrong.

SHASHI NAIDOO: YUMMiE FRIDAY GALLERY

We featured Shashi Naidoo as the Yummie Lifestyle Covergirl in July 2007.
When she was featured on the cover of FHM earlier this year, she hailed the feat ‘a victory for nerds.’
Nerds International is now considering suing Ms Naidoo for using their name in vain.

I don’t blame them.
There is no way that this chiropractor, model, TV presenter and co-owner of Alushi Management dare refer to herself as a nerd.

CHOOSING THE PERFECT STEAK

Cooking the perfect steak is an art.
Before we even start talking about how to grill the perfect steak, it is vital that you know at least a little about the raw meat.

Here I will introduce you to the raw steak that you are going to grill, and below I will tell you exactly how to grill that perfect steak of your choice.

There are roughly fourteen different cuts of steak. Yes. Fourteen.

ACCENTS TO TURN YOU ON

There was a time when a Frenchman could ask for directions to the loo and women would buckle at the knees with desire, and average-looking Italian men would give the ladies the shakes just by ordering a glass of Chianti.

Well those days it seem are ‘ow you say..fini!

These days the accents that turn women on have changed considerable.

PATTAYA. LOVING YOU LONG TIME

For most red-blooded males – and some blue-blooded females too - just the mention of Pattaya evokes visions of nubile nymphs clambering for the opportunity to ‘love you long time.’

But after reading this article, I suspect that you may be a bit more wary the next time you visit the sex capital.
