Section 218 of the Companies Act disqualifies
anybody who was jailed for theft, fraud, forgery or perjury
from being a company director, unless the high court sets
aside the disqualification.
Yengeni's prison sentence prevented him
from becoming an MP last year, but he has subsequently been
appointed to set up the ANC's political school, and he has
taken up directorship of six companies, including two mining
companies, since his release.
His comment?
"What has the high court to do with my life,"
he reportedly asked.
"Maybe the law stipulates certain things. But
the high court... I don't think they feature. I don't
have to ask permission from them to deal with my life."

In the meantime, a 35-year-old female doctor
was hit with a brick and raped in one of the wards while
she was on duty at Pelonomi Hospital in the Free State when
she was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Fidel Hadebe of the Health Department’s
comment?
‘Such incidents should not be allowed
to happen and it really pushes us to move with increased
speed in terms of ensuring that we improve in the area of
security in our facilities.’
