This week, 92-year-old Madiba
was admitted to hospital and the veil of secrecy imposed
around his condition by the Madiba gatekeepers is causing
a media frenzy.
We cannot blame the media, because the whole
world wants to know, has the right to know, what’s
happening with our beloved icon.
I agree with the CEO of Cape Town-based
BWB Communications when she says ‘They are opening
themselves up to rampant speculation by not keeping the
press informed.’
Surely Madiba and the nation deserve more
respect?
Why would they want to keep his condition
a secret?
Are they afraid that someone else will capitalise
on it before they can figure out how use this as another
opportunity to enrich themselves?
What we do know is that Professor Michael
Plit, a specialist pulmonologist - who deals with diseases
of the respiratory system - at Milpark Hospital, confirmed
that he had seen Mandela on Wednesday. And an 'undiclosed
source close to Mandela' has revealed that he is being
treated for a collapsed lung and should be discharged from
hospital as early as today.
I posted this before but here it is again.
I penned this about four years ago in tribute to, and with
gratitude, admiration and respect for a man who - in my
opinion – is the personification of mankind’s
forgotten core.
All your life
You’ve sacrificed
To give back
My life to me
All those years
They tried their best
To break you
And with you your ideals
*
But you came back
And surprised us all
Talking of love and forgiveness
You took us back
To the power of love
For that we thank you Madiba
Nqiyabonga Madiba, Enkosi
Madiba, Dankie Madiba, Ke I Tumela Madiba,
Thank You Madiba, Ke A Leboha Madiba, Ukhani Madiba, Tiramakassie
Madiba, Shukran Madiba, Shukriyaa Madiba
Mwah Mwah Mwah Mwah Mwah
*
Without you
My children too
Might not have known
This thing we call freedom
We are free
To live our lives
Without chains
No fear of oppression
*
‘Cause you came back
And surprised us all
Talking of love and forgiveness
You took us back
To the power of love
For that we thank you Madiba
Nqiyabonga Madiba, Enkosi
Madiba, Dankie Madiba, Ke I Tumela Madiba,
Thank You Madiba, Ke A Leboha Madiba, Ukhani Madiba, Tiramakassie
Madiba, Shukran Madiba, Shukriyaa Madiba
Mwah Mwah Mwah Mwah Mwah
