GROOVIN’ IN THE BURBS

The couple on the dance floor looked like they were in their late sixties, even seventies, and they were obviously enjoying themselves.

‘Its music that they know’ I thought, because the band was playing old school hits.
But then the band switched to more current party stuff and this couple stayed on the floor. They were loving this even more and dancing with abandon.

Ok. It was the ‘dance like no one is watching you’ kind of dancing but they were having a blast.

When afterwards, the guy came up to me and said ‘This girl sings Rihanna’s songs better that Rihanna herself’ my first thought was ‘How the hell does someone your age know Rihanna?’

In retrospect, this couple was probably not much older than me.
I just look younger (blush blush)

The glazed-eyed blonde with the silly grin that was wobbling in front of the stage heard him, leaned in our direction, almost tipping over and muttered to no one in particular ‘Friggen AWEsome.’

Later on another - fairly sober - guy at the bar seemed quite earnest when he told me ‘I am in the retail music business and I’ve never heard talent like this in my life.’

They were talking about the trio Rapture fronted by Aubrey Arries and a sensational new talent in Zann.
Boy can she sing.
Boy can they sing.
Their harmonies are contagious. Towards the end the entire club was singing along.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a Buffalo Soldier or a Dancing Queen. Whether you Love To Truck or just want to Dance With Somebody.
And if you are into the newer stuff, or the jazzy stuff, or whatever stuff, these three will read you like a book and belt it out.
Fabulously.

Rapture will be performing at the Groovin’ Sundowner at Inside Cocktail Lounge next to the famous Rosmead Spar every Friday from 6pm starting next week (20 May)

The food is good and there are great bar specials all night long.
As if that’s not enough, DJs Gary Poole and Quinny Cool will be on the decks between sets. AND ENTRANCE IS FREE
