Over the months I have built up a network
of over 2000 online friends, although many of these still
only communicate with me when they are looking for complimentary
tickets or need to get onto some or other guest list.
Lately, I find muself yearning for the real
live experience of meeting new and interesting people and
interacting on a personal level.
And I am decidedly bored with online social
networking.
I am tired of reading lame and inconsequential
status updates, I am tired of sharing with an anonymous
world the trivia that randomly pops up in my head, I am
tired of being poked by strangers, and I am tired of accepting
friend requests from strangers, who, if I accept them, never
talk to me again.
I don’t care any more
whether Bridget ‘was late for work again this morning’,
that Shafiek ‘is hungry yor’, that Justin ‘is
SO blessed thank you Jesus', that Aaliyah 'is in a relationship
and it’s complicated’, or that Nicole’s
‘daY is geTtiNg betA An bEtA (**,).’

Fok!
I am so fargen bored with this shit. |
I am not taking any drastic
steps like deleting my profile yet, as I still think that
at times it’s a useful, if over-rated marketing tool,,
but I doubt whether I will be spending much time on facebook
in the immediate future.
I can still post updates to my site without having to actually
visit FB, and those who really do use FB to network with
me can still send me emails on FB as these show in Outlook.
There
you have it.
I’m all facebooked out.
