CUSTOMER
CARE. NEOTEL VS TELKOM
Telkom does not offer ADSL in my
area, and I wrote before about the Vodacom
3g fiasco.
Somebody recommended that I try Neotel, and three
weeks ago I got the device.
Everything worked perfectly….. until this
morning.
This morning I could not connect
to the internet. The fone worked fine, but when
I tried connecting to the Internet it said ‘
there is a problem with the hardware. Error 692.’

I DISCOVER PARADISE
IN MY HOMETOWN
The daughter called on Saturday
asking ‘What are you guys doing tomorrow.’
She and the fokkers were going to Churchhaven for
the day and we were invited.
The weather forecast said 35degrees
so we agreed.
I have lived in Cape Town for most
of my life, but on Sunday I felt that I visited
a foreign country. Read

KLEPTES KRATOS
AND THE ANC
Described as ‘His country’s
first polygamous President’ Jacob Zuma’s
controversies have followed him to the UK where
he is set to meet with the Queen and Prime Minister
Gordon Brown, during a three day visit.
The British media have not been
kind to JZ.

WHAT’S
A ROLLS AND COUPLE OF LAMBORGHINIS TO THIS COUPLE?
On Tuesday, the SA Revenue Services confiscated
three vehicles worth nearly R17-million belonging
to a Durban couple whose taxes were not in order.
But this is not a train
smash for this couple.
After Sars took possession of a Rolls Royce Phantom
valued at R7-million, and two Lamborghinis valued
at R4.5 and R5-million, still let in the parking
garage were…

THAI MANGO AND
CHILLI CHICKEN WITH COCONUT RICE
I’ve been buying mango and chilli
chicken pre-packed from Dan’s chicken shop in
Ruth Rd Rylands, and found it to be delicious and
different.
But then I discovered this recipe and Dan lost a customer.
But this Thai mango and
chilli chicken with coconut rice is - as the frisky
one would say - to die for.

DOWN
BUT NOT OUT
Every now and again I find myself extremely disillusioned
when circumstances make me feel that I want to give
up on life.
Yesterday was one of those days.
“What’s the point?’ I asked myself
for the umpteenth time, ‘Life is a bitch,
and then you die, and nobody really cares either
way.’
Then I went back to the
mirror of my mind, and looked at myself as a two
year old, and remembered just how much I love myself.
Remembered that I care.

POLITICALLY CORRECT
BULLSHIT
We all saw the dilemma
on TV and we heard him lead the crowd in a song
with the lyrics ‘Shoot the boere. They are
rapists.’
He did the same thing at his birthday party in Polokwane
last week.
But we are not supposed to say he
did so?
What bullshit is this then about
‘allegedly this’ and ‘allegedly
that?’ Read

WINNIE SLAMS
HER MAN(DELA)
Let’s get one thing straight.
I am not a fan of Winnie Madikizela.
Personally I think that she is an unintelligent
arrogant woman who, because she was married to Nelson
Mandela, found herself in a powerful position on
the gravy train.
So powerful that the six-year sentence for her role
in the murder of Stompie Moeketsi was reduced to
a fine.

CALLING CAPE
TOWN PERFORMING ARTISTS
Yesterday, I started a group
on Facebook for performing artists based in
Cape Town.
I don’t know about you guys, but I find that
the Cape Town nightlife scene has become excruciatingly
dull and boring, and it’s high time that someone
does something about it.
The group is aimed at performing
artists who are looking for opportunities to showcase
their work.

PROPOSAL TO GOD
Dear God
With all due respect, I hope that You will not take
this the wrong way, but I think it’s high
time that someone had a word with You regarding
The Creation.
I think it has become evident that
things are not working out the way it was supposed
to, unless of course this is all part of Your divine
plan.
Somehow, I for one would be deeply disappointed
if it is.

THE NEWS. FIRST
WORLD VS THIRD WORLD
I suppose because we are regarded
as a third world country we should not expect better
from our TV and print publications.
Or are we regarded as a third world country because
of our TV and print publications.
Mmmmm. Interesting.
News coverage in South Africa across
the board consists of corruption, crime and the
antics of Zuma, The Dilemma and their cronies.
But in the first world they are spoilt for choice.

WIE AANHOU, WEN
I had become extremely disillusioned
with the entertainment industry in Cape Town, and
towards the middle of 2008 I decided to pursue other
options.
My timing could not have been more
perfect, as the recession hit the world at about
the same time, and late last year I had to accept
that I would have to go back to doing what I know
best.
But getting ‘back in’
proved to be easier said then done.

FIFA. CAPITALIST
GREED PERSONIFIED
I can understand guarding against
theft of intellectual property, or non-material
property as it is defined in South African law.
I can even understand trademarks and copyright.
But when someone can ‘copyright’
the use of images of things like soccer balls, the
vuvuzela, Greenpoint stadium and even the South
African flag, it illustrates how the system accommodates
man’s greed.

CRACK COCAINE
ROCKS. A TRUE STORY
I am not sure how popular it is
today, but a couple of years ago crack cocaine,
or ‘rocks’ as it is known in South Africa,
was the fashionable drug on the streets of Cape
Town.
Heavy rockers have a tendency to
unconsciously and continuously smack their lips,
like they were kissing the air, when they were high
on the drug.

FIFA. NOW SOCCER
IS A UNIVERSAL UNIFYING FORCE
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow dubbed
music as ‘the universal language’ for
a number of reasons.
All music is based on just 7 notes,
and it does not matter which part of the world you
are in, all music is simply combinations of these
notes and variations around it.

THE RECESSION
HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN There’s
been a lot of talk about the ‘end of the recession’,
‘recovery’ and ‘economic upturn’
lately, but I suspect that this ‘talk’
is just more hype by ‘big business’to
get us into the right frame of mind to line their
pockets even further.
In December last year, debtors began
taking the threats of legal action seriously and
started paying off their arrears and making regular
payments.

GOD’S RESPONSE
TO MY PROPOSAL
Dear Kader
Thank you for your proposal
dated Tuesday 17th instant.
Your concept is a good one, but
due to budgetary restraints, limitations in terms
of available resources, and especially in light
of the current economic climate, I am unfortunately
not in a position to commit to the project at this
stage. Read

WHY I PREFER
WOMEN TO MEN
I am not generalising, but generally
speaking I find women to be generally far more interesting
than men. Generally.
It’s always been that way
for me.
In many, even most cases, it would not be entirely
true to say that sex and physical attraction has
nothing to do with it, but it has nothing to do
with it. Well mostly.

THE ORIGIN OF
EASTER
Reading up on the ‘Pagan
Origin of Easter’, I came across something
that is far more ridiculously interesting.
Before we go there, let me summarize
- the short version of this pagan origin of easter
thing.
The script makes soapies like The
Bold and the Beautiful pale in comparison.
