I FINALLY DISCOVER ZANEWS

I really battled to find something to write about today.
I am so sick and tired of the drivel in the news. Different angles, some of them very lame, on the same old stories.
It must be really hard being a journalist.

Then I remembered that by accident I caught an episode of Zanews on Cape TV the other day,
This may be old hat to you, but I was pleasantly surprised to find an entire website of this sometimes very hilarious look at the news in South Africa.

It all started years ago when Zapiro and Thiery Cassuto produced their first puppet of our iconic former president.

In 2007, these two finally got commissioned by the SABC to do a full TV pilot of Zanews, but that’s as far as it got.
Even though ZANEWS seem poised to become a success, it was veto-ed by the board (and a mysterious invisible hand) and sent back to obscurity.

But in 2009, Kulula and the Mail & Guardian apparently decided that it was about time South Africa was given a chance to discover ZANEWS and sponsored its first full season, raising the show out of the abyss and into the hearts and minds of South Africa.

How come nobody told me!!!!

I spent hours on the site!
