A PLACE IN THE SUN

I first heard this song in 1968 on the album Soul Fire by The Flames.
The song was written by Ronald Miller and Bryan Wells and was –originally, I think -recorded as a single by Stevie Wonder in 1966.

It was one of Wonder’s first songs to contain a social commentary.

At the time, the song did not mean much to me, but today the lyrics popped up from nowhere and keeps ringing in my head.

I wonder why.

Body & Soul Weightloss

Like a long lonely stream
I keep running towards a dream
Moving on, moving on
Like a branch on a tree
I keep reaching to be free
Moving on, moving on

'Cause there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for everyone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun

Like an old dusty road
I get weary from the load
Moving on, moving on
Like this tired troubled earth
I've been rollin' since my birth
Moving on, moving on
