Broadly the process is:
Hurt. Hurt usually evokes anger. When I am angry I tend
to vent, and innocent bystanders close to me normally bear
the brunt of my venting.
Frustration. Frustration causes depression. When I am depressed
I first mope and then I withdraw into my cocoon. (Disturb
me at your own risk during this phase!). In my cocoon I
deal with the emotions and eventually I spit out the negatives
and move on.
Only then am I able to decide what to do with the lemons.
This process can sometimes take an hour.
Sometimes it takes weeks.
In order to effectively deal with my emotions,
while in my cocoon, I remind myself of the qualities necessary
for pursuing a happy and successful life, while acknowledging
that success is relative.
You may find some of my reminders useful.
1.
Life is what we make of it, always has been, always
will be. Life itself cannot give you joy. Life just
gives you time and space, it’s up to you to
fill it |

2. Don’t be afraid to go out on a
limb...that is where the fruit is.
3. Always do right. This will gratify some
people, confuse some, scare some and astonish the rest.
In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of
principle, stand like a rock. If you gotta lose, lose ’em
right. Be faithful to that which exists within yourself
4. Do not always follow where the path may
lead. Sometimes it is neceassary to go instead where there
is no path and leave a trail.
5. Opportunity is missed by most people
because it’s often dressed in overalls and looks like
work.
|
6.
Treat people openly, fairly and many times firmly.
There is nothing wrong with being firm – just
don’t cross the ass-hole line! |
6. Where the situation involves others,
communicate directly,openly and respectfully.
7.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. In
the long run, we only hit what we aim at. |
|
8. Be Honest and Dependable: Take responsibility,
otherwise numbers 1 – 7 won’t matter.
