A standard vuvuzela, less than 1metre in
length, has been measured as emitting a sound of 126 decibals.
This is louder than a chainsaw or a drum.
50 000 vuvuzelas blown simultaneously can potentially cause
permanent hearing loss.
Imagine then the
sound that this 37metre monster trumpet would emit. |

"It's extremely loud," said Francois
Marais, marketing manager for Hyundai South Africa, makers
of the giant vuvuzela, who said his firm was in talks with
council chiefs in the hope they may allow it later in the
tournament.
"Hopefully, we are going to come to
a compromise where we can blow it at special occasions,
the final, the semi-finals and perhaps the quarter-finals,"
added Marais.
My advice to Marais and Hyundai South Arica?
Quickly talk to the authorities in Rustenburg, and if they
are keen, quickly move the thing there to blow away both
Mexico nd Uruguay before the match begins.
Then, even quicker, move it to Bloemfontein
to get there before half-time to blow away France.
