What these two meals have in common is that
they are both essentially bread with a filling.
So what do you get when you marry the Gatsby
and the Bunny Chow and take the fillings to another level?
Why does a Bunny Chow have to have curry in it?
Why must a Gatsby be limited to polony, viennas or marsala
steak?
Why does a Gatsby and a Bunny Chow have to be in different
shaped breads?
‘Are you with me’ as Bruce would
say.
BEHOLD…..THE
MEGABUSTA!
We’ll do the viennas and marsala steak etc, and we’ll
do the curry.
But we will also do Frikkadel with onion and tomato smoortjie,
Chicken strips with sticky sweet and sour sauce, Sugar Bean
Bredie, Butter Chicken, Oxtail stew, Seafood curry and many
others.
But wait, I perused, the people from the
‘koep huise’ won’t be seen dead with anything
that resembles a Gatsby or a Bunny Chow.
They will do burgers, hotdogs, boerewors rolls etc, but
sharing a moerse Gatsby or Bunny?
I can but never.
Simple.
For the people from the ‘koep huise’ we have….THE
MINIBUSTA!
All the fillings of the Megabusta, available on or in a
roll.
And then, for that special treat on payday,
we do…THE ROTIBUSTA!
(Salomies to the layman) Who said you can’t
eat Tomato Bredie in a roti?
And for those not affected by the economic slump we have…THE
MEALBUSTA!
All those delicious fillings served with Basmati rice or
flaky Cape Malay Roti and the right sambal for the right
meal.
‘Yes.’
‘This could work.’ I imagined.
And so I converted my dream into a goal,
and at the end of May…….
HUNGABUSTAS at 126 Victoria
Road Woodstock, next to Lewis Stores, will bring you all
these mouth-watering Mega, Mini, Roti and Mealbustas!
Yummie!
Watch this space.
In fact, I suspect that my partners and I are soon going
to plaster it all over the Interweb!
