GAY PRIDE AND PREJUDICE Iraqi militias are increasingly torturing and executing men suspected of homosexuality. Hundreds of men have been kidnapped, tortured and killed this year in a wave of violence that began in the Sadr City stronghold of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army militia in Baghdad. There are reports of men being abducted from their homes in front of their families, with their corpses found dumped on garbage dumps the next day with the genitals cut off. Others are found with their anuses glued shut.

 

This disgusting report once more prompted me to foolishly try and get to the root of prejudice. Not an easy task. Yes, I agree with the theories that claim ‘Prejudice stems from many complex mixtures of environmental factors, upbringing, media, economic status, and finally experiences.’ I can add my own sixpence to the list ‘education, religion, culture, heritage, tradition, morals, ideals, nationality etc etc etc. But where did it all start? What is the root of prejudice?

An unanswered question on Wiki-Answers strikes a chord.

‘Is the root of prejudice and extremism ignorance?’

No one has bothered to answer the question, I take it because, not only are we not ignorant, we are not prejudiced either, so why bother answering a stupid question.

Conceited idiots. That’s what we are.
