WHAT’S A ROLLS AND COUPLE OF LAMBORGHINIS TO THIS COUPLE?

On Tuesday, the SA Revenue Services confiscated three vehicles worth nearly R17-million belonging to a Durban couple whose taxes were not in order.

But this is not a train smash for this couple.
After Sars took possession of a Rolls Royce Phantom valued at R7-million, and two Lamborghinis valued at R4.5 and R5-million, still let in the parking garage were…

An Aston Martin Vanquish S, a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Grand Tourer, a Porsche Turbo, a Maserati Pininfarina, a BMW 750i and an X6M!

So who is this super couple?
Why, klestes of course.

In May 1998 Durban was rocked when anarchy hit the streets. During the trial of several men accused of murdering taxi boss Moses Gcaba a group of gunmen launched an attack on the seat of justice.

The plan to kill the accused right inside the high court was foiled and three of the gunmen were arrested as police returned fire.
The Special Presidential Taxi Task Team, set up by elson Mandela took over the investigation and managed to obtain traffic camera footage of the getaway vehicle driven by Durban Metro Police officer Constable Sbu Wiseman Mpisane.

When arrested, Mpisane immediately agreed to give evidence against others in exchange for immunity under Section 204 of the Criminal Procedure Act.

However before Mpisane could take the stand against the multimillionaire taxi boss Mandla Gcaba – one of the wealthiest men in South Africa - who Mpisane fingered as the mastermind behind the High Court bloodbath, the traffic cop vanished.
Judge Allan Howard gave investigators four months to find the traffic cop – but after four months he resumed the trial. With no star witness in the form of Mpisane, Howard found Mandla Gcaba and Jabulani Dumakude not guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Just days after Gcaba’s acquittal, Mpisani reappeared at the Metro Police headquarters, claiming that he had been kidnapped and held at a holiday resort, and asking for his job back.

Mpisani is married Shawn, the daughter of Sbu Mkhize, a notorious armed robber and murderer who was shot dead by Murder and Robbery Unit detectives in 1992. Mkhize was one of the earliest practitioners of cash in transit robberies – and not all of the cash he stole during his reign of terror was recovered.

Shawn is the owner of Zikhulise Maintenance, Cleaning and Transport in Umlazi KZN.
In 2009 alone, this company received R219-million from the eThekwini municipality to build low cost housing, but failed to continue construction after informing workers that there was not enough money available.

There you have it.
The kleptes that live in a R17-million mansion in La Lucia, and obviously has strong connections with not only super-klestes but also some powerful kratos.

What’s a Rolls Royce Phantom and a couple of Lamborghinis to them?
