SCHABIR
SHAIK: THE PLOT SICKENS
Why on earth is the DA surprised that
convicted fraudster Schabir Shaik is not terminally ill?
Already when he was sentenced, the graduates of The College
of Knowledge were proclaiming knowledgably on the streets
of the hood ‘He’ll be out of there in no time.’
Of course, most members of the DA did
not study at The College of Knowledge so I suppose one
can forgive them for holding out even a glimmer of hope
that Shaik was really being punished for his crime.
A Democratic Alliance councilor was allegedly
surprised to spot the convicted fraudster cruising through
the Musgrave area in his stylish black BMW 7-Series on
Monday.
And the response from the Department of
Correctional services?
The typical response that one has grown accustomed to
hearing from Graduates of the College of Colleagues.
"As a department, we cannot force
one to die, if one does not break the parole conditions
then there is nothing we can do,’ said Thami Zondi.
Shaik, President Jacob Zuma's
former financial adviser, was released on medical parole
in March after being convicted on two counts of corruption
and one of fraud.
He served only two years and four months
of his 15-year prison term, luxuriously spending most
of the time in hospital because of high blood pressure,
depression and chest pains.
When he was released it was widely publicized
that he was terminally ill.
Four months later, he has made a miraculous recovery.
‘I did mos told you so,’ said
Loembek to anyone who would listen in Lawrence Rd yesterday.
‘An me. An me’ repeated Darakie to no one
in particular.
