HOW
WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR COUNTRY
It’s Saturday afternoon and
I have nothing better to do than search for articles
worthy of comment on this site.
The details are still vague, but
a woman who police suspect is a member of the National
Intelligence Agency (NIA), was robbed of R250 000.00
outside the South African Revenue Service office
at Gateway on Friday afternoon.
I must warn you, the following is
pure private investigative speculation on my part.
|
|
Apparently, before the woman could get
out of her car, she was accosted by five men, who held
her at gunpoint, forced her out of her car, took the money
and fled in a car.
Police suspect that the woman could have
been bringing in money to the Sars offices, they –
police -are trying to get CCTV footage of the men, and
there are claims that the woman has links to the Pretoria
offices.
The vagueness of the report automatically
raises a few questions in my head, so to amuse myself,
I decided to formulate optional answers.
Feel free to complete this multiple choice ‘Know
South Africa’ quiz.
Question 1
Why are the police not sure
if the woman is a NIA agent, whether she has
ties to the Pretoria office, or if she was
bringing in money to the office?
Answer 1:
Police have not actually met the woman. They only read
about the robbery in the newspaper.
Answer 2
Police did meet the woman but informed her that a special
task force would contact her later to fill in the details.
Answer 3
The woman, being a ‘spy’ refused to answer
any questions citing that the details were classified.
Question 2
How did the robbers know that the woman would have such
a large sum of money in her possession?
Answer 1
They did not know. They were just in the area and randomly
selected this particular woman as their victim for the
day/hour/minute.
Answer 2
(a) The robbers got information from their buddies at
the NIA (b) The robbers are themselves members of the
NIA
Answer 3
The woman is the sixth member of the gang of robbers.
Question 3
Why are the police trying to
get footage of the CCTV cameras?
Answer 1
They are not sure where the footage is actually kept
Answer 2
The footage of that particular day has already been filed,
and it could take up to six months to now find it.
Answer 3
The camera was offline
Submit your answers to Sars and cc the
SAPS.
You will then be informed whether your score is ‘due
to you’ or ‘due by you.’
But be careful, you could also be arrested as a suspected
accomplice.
