Ncikazi writes that one point that needs
to be made is that each and every nation has it’s
culture that keeps it grounded
He infers that if such cultural ceremonies are stopped,
a hundred years from now, people will be wondering where
they come from and who they are.
This is exactly what I want them to
do.
Our history is filled with atrocities,
oppression, wars.. and mindless ceremonies and rituals
based on fear of the unknown.
I want humanity to forget
who they are and where they come from.
I want them to start thinking about who they are meant
to be and where they are going.
If Thokozani had said ‘If they
want to stop Okhweshwama, they should also stop the
foxhunt, bullfights, trophy hunting, the sacrificial
slaughtering of animals etc, I would agree with him.’
But, he says ‘If cultures such
as Ukweshwama have to be cancelled, then the whole nation
must stop eating meat.’
That’s like saying ‘If they
want to stop waging wars, then Earth’s entire
population should stop dying.’
