TODAY I AM BRAVEHEART

I am in no state to write anything today, for today I am Braveheart.
6 Weeks ago, I proposed an idea for a party to a sponsor, and the sponsor agreed to do a pilot event.

Everyone, including my colleague, thought that I was crazy.
Actually most of them still think so, and I must admit, it has been extremely hard to resist being drawn into the negativity of those close to me around this event.

In a nutshell, I said that the Cape Town entertainment, nightclub and party scene has become dull and boring.
I said that there is a market out there that is hungry for fresh concepts and that is prepared to pay for it even if, or rather in spite of it being locally produced.

Everyone else said I am crazy.
‘Cape Town people are used to the culture of not paying. Now you want to make the cover charge R80. Nobody will pay that.’

I insisted that there was a market out there that is prepared to pay if the product is worth it.

Well, tonight that debate will be settled once and for all. Call me Wallace if you want.
