Can’t say I blame Father Edward Tomlinson for saying ‘I have stood at the crematorium like a lemon, wondering why on earth I am present at the funeral of somebody led in by the blaring tunes of Tina Turner summed up in pithy platitudes of sentimental and secular poets and sent into the furnace with "I did it my way" blaring out across the speakers.’

Today, most would contend that funerals are for the living and not for the dead.

Is it appropriate then that Father Edward entitled his blog ‘The death of death?’

It may be the death of commending the soul to the lord Father Edward, but funerals are here to stay, for one simple reason.
