BLACK CRIMINALS, WHITE LAWYERS

There is a reason why a photo of advocate Barbie accompanies this article.
The article has nothing to do with her, but I felt her pic would grab more attention than one of Advocate Sita Kolbe SC.

And, Barbie perfectly illustrates a point made by the senior counsel during her feathers ruffling interview with the Judicial Services.

Transformation of the Judiciary’ said Kolbe, ‘would only be complete when the Zumas of this world briefed black counsel.

Very good point.

Jacob Zuma, Jackie Selebi, Vusi Pikoli and a host of other black high rollers.
When they find themselves in trouble with the law, they hire white lawyers.

Advocate Sita Kolbe SC, an advocate at the Johannesburg bar, argued that the best way of dealing with discrimination was to train black lawyers until they were clients' natural first choice because they were "brilliant" and perceived as the best money could hire.
' There will only be real transformation in my view one day when, when the Zumas of this world find themselves in a spot of bother, we see a black face representing them and not a white face.'

Gauteng Judge President Bernard Ngoepe asked Kolbe whether she was implying that black lawyers were "unbrilliant" to which she responded that this applied to the majority of advocates of all races.

You see.
I told you there was a reason why a pic of Advocate Barbie is posted on the homepage.

But Advocate Kolbe is up against it because she is dealing with the arrogant and ignorant majority, who has no time for such authentic utterances.
This was perfectly illustrated by commissioner Ishmael Semenya, her prominent colleague at the Johannesburg bar, when he said the constitutional requirement for racial representation in the judiciary could not wait until all black lawyers are specialists!
